An elected health and safety representative (HSR) has powers under the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 (WHS Act) to issue provisional improvement notice (PIN) and stop unsafe work.
A PIN is a written notice issued by a trained HSR to a person directing them to address a work health and safety (WHS) issue.
An HSR can issue a PIN if they reasonably believe:
- there has been a breach of the WHS legislation or
- a breach of the WHS legislation has occurred and the HSR believes it will be repeated.
