What is the format of the legislation exam?
The three hour legislation exam is divided into 3 sections.

What types of questions are on the legislation exam?
The legislation exam is made up of a combination of multiple-choice, true-false and fill-in-the-blanks questions.
Can I bring notes?
Yes. Candidates may bring two single-sided or one double-sided A4 page of condensed index notes. This condensed index should be a shortened version of the indexes in the Act and Regulations and not an alphabetical list of keyword searches and where to find them.
Notes must comply with exam requirements.
What materials can I bring into the examination?
You may bring:
- The Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act 2020
- The Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022
- Relevant codes of practice or guidelines
- Two single-sided or one double-sided A4 page of condensed index notes (refer above).
These materials may include:
- highlighting
- index tabs
- margin notes
Copies of the relevant legislation and guidance material will also be available at exam venues.
Please note that candidates are not permitted to create additional notes or add notes to exam materials during the exam.
How is the legislation exam marked?
The legislation exam is delivered and marked by the learning management system (LMS).
What is the pass mark for the legislation exam?
You need to score a minimum of 80% across the three sections to pass the legislation exam.
Candidates are entitled to 3 attempts per calendar year. If you score below 80% in your first attempt, you can re-sit up to two times per calendar year.
