Underground supervisor's certificate

Complete the Statement of experience: UGS (with qualifications) – two years employment on an underground mine site: Template.

• Complete the UGS – qualification self-assessment: Template
• Provide a copy of the relevant qualification and academic transcript.

Complete the Statement of experience: UGS (without qualifications) – five years employment on an underground mine site: Template.

• Provide evidence of working in a suitable role for a minimum of 84 shifts
• The nominated supervisor must confirm candidate is competent.

• Provide evidence of working in a suitable role for a minimum of 42 shifts
• The nominated supervisor must confirm candidate is competent.

• Must complete a minimum of 20 shifts in the use of explosives at stopes.
• Must complete a minimum of 20 shifts in the use of explosives in development faces
• Provide evidence of working in a suitable role for a minimum of 42 shifts
• The nominated supervisor must confirm candidate is competent in the use of explosives at stopes and development faces.

• Demonstrated experience in both mine transport and services role.
• Provide evidence of working in a suitable role for a minimum of 42 shifts
• The nominated supervisor must confirm candidate is competent in mine transport and a service-related role(s).

Candidate must submit a National Police Clearance. The document must be issued within 12 months of Mining Competence Advisory Committee review.

The minimum acceptable unit of competency for first aid certificate is HLTAID011 Provide first aid. The document must be issued within 3 year of Mining Competence Advisory Committee review.

The following WHS risk management units must be completed.

• RIIRIS402E or BSBWHS414 – Risk management core unit of competency
• BSBWHS411 – Unit of competency to contextualise work health and safety risk for a statutory position holder. 

The committee can consider current and superseded equivalent versions of the above units if they are completed on or after 1 January 2018.
