For every identified hazard, an action plan must be developed and tracked until the hazard is eliminated or adequately controlled. Any actions arising from the risk assessment should be recorded on the action plan.
Why having a safety action plan is important
The benefits of having a comprehensive and up-to-date safety action plan are:
- it provides a history of action and control measures for hazards which also serves as a record of your business’s commitment to safety
- it allows the business and your workers to monitor for hazards and their control measures
- it prioritises the amount of time spent on each hazard according to its risk ratings
- it ensures a person is responsible for each task or action item and will assist in following through on the action items.
