Transition arrangements allow for codes of practice approved under the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1984 and Mines Safety and Inspection Act 1994 to continue being in effect as if approved by the Minister under the WHS Act.
The code aims to provide practical guidance for public sector agencies to achieve compliance with the obligations of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1984 and the Occupational Safety and Health Regulations 1996.

This code provides guidance to assist public sector entities to establish and implement a work health and safety management system (SMS).
