Mines statutory positions register

Last updated: 26 September 2025

The Mines statutory positions register is used to validate an individual’s statutory position exam or certificate under the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022. Users can also search for holders of certificate of competency.

Statutory positions are appointed by the person conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU) to carry out specific functions in relation to the operations of a mine.

There are three search options available, depending on the type of qualification or certificate.

  • Passed legislation exam
To confirm if an individual has passed a relevant legislation exam. If your search returns unsuccessful, check the details and try again.
  • Statutory certificate
To verify if an individual holds a statutory certificate under the current regulations. If your search returns unsuccessful, check the details and try again.
  • Certificate of competency
To check for certificates issued under transitional arrangements from the Mines Safety and Inspection Act 1994. If the individual holds multiple certificates, a list of certificates and restrictions (if any) will be displayed.
