WorkSafe Agriculture Youth Safety Award

Introduced in 2025, the WorkSafe Agriculture Youth Safety Award shines a light on Year 11 students leading the way in agricultural work health and safety. In its first year, 10 students from five agricultural colleges and two farm schools were recognised as the best students in work health and safety in their year.

The award is one of the components of the Agriculture Youth Education Program that saw WorkSafe inspectors visit colleges and schools to give presentations to Years 11 and 12 students and undertake educational inspections of the farms and facilities with college farm staff.

Agricultural industry inquiry

Following the 12th fatality in 12 months in the Western Australian agricultural industry, WorkSafe Commissioner Darren Kavanagh established an Inquiry with an Independent Inquirer appointed.

WorkSafe is working with industry stakeholders, worker representatives and peak bodies to further drive work health and safety improvements in the sector, in line with the recommendations provided in the Inquiry Report.
