Background Details:
On 20 June 1996 the (injured) employee was driving a forklift at Perth Market Authority, Canning Vale. He was reversing down a lane in the undercover area and as he passed a truck parked in the next lane, another forklift drove around the front of the truck and the two forklifts collided. The second forklift had its tynes raised to approximately 1.3 metres when they collided.

As the forklifts collided, the injured employee lent forward but not enough to stop one of the tynes hitting him in the back and knocking him to the ground. He received bruising to his back.
